The Annual Aurora Players

$500.00 College Scholarship Opportunity

We cordially invite graduating high school seniors who wish to pursue their higher education in a theatre-related major to apply. The criteria and requirements are listed in the application document below.

The applicant must:

  • Be a High School Senior, graduating this spring from a High School within the predefined geographical area roughly within a 12 mile radius of East Aurora (consideration will be given to applicants beyond this radius)
  • Be pursuing a theatre or theatre-related major at college, university or conservatory.
  • Submit completed hard copy application packet by mail, postmarked on or before April 15th.

Please send the completed form below (along with all required documentation) in one package, to the address indicated on the form, by April 15th.

Our 2010 Scholarship winner, Christina Marie Palczewski

 

Christina Marie Palczewski is a Senior graduating from Orchard Park 
High School with plans to attend SUNY at Buffalo.  She has been 
accepted into the Dance program.

Extensive musical theatre exp. in high school as principal dancer and 
dance captain,  including Kiss Me Kate, Thoroughly Modern Milly, 
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown , and others.

Member of OPHS Chorallers and Swing Chorus, All County Chorus, and 
attended NYSSMA competitions

Dance Training: Steppin'Out Dance Academy, with workshops in Buffalo 
and New York City, including Musical Theatre Performance Project

Quote from OPHS Theatre Director, Darcy Young, " Besides being 
extremely talented in Dance, she is an excellent vocalist.  Most 
importantly, she has great enthusiasm for anything related to 
theatre.  Chrissy works above and beyond what is required of her.  She 
is always willing to help others and is always smiling and respectful."

Additional involvements:
Member 5 years -Orchard Park Youth Court, a division of Erie County 
Family Court.
Student speaker 2 years - D.A.R.E.
Volunteer - YMCA Summer Gymnastics camp.

Aurora Players is honored to award the 2010 Aurora Players scholarship to Christina. We wish her well.


Our 2009 Scholarship winner, Andrew Adolph

Lancaster resident, Andrew Adolf,  is the recipient of the 2009 Aurora Players Higher Education scholarship for the study of theatre.  Chosen from among many fine candidates, Andrew’s application reflected not only his passion for theatre performance, but also his balance between serious dedication and optimistic outlook, and enthusiasm.

Through a competitive audition process, Andrew has been accepted to the Theatre Performance  B.F.A. Program at Niagara University.  Andrew states, “…taking the audience for an enjoyable ride is an amazing feat to say the least.  I discovered acting on the Lancaster Opera House stage.  At that moment I began to fall in love with performing and I have never stopped.  Performing became life to me.”

Andrew has starred in GODSPELL, GUYS AND DOLLS, and PYGMALION at his high school and has held roles in HMS PINAFORE, CRAZY FOR YOU, TREASURE ISLAND, and BYE BYE BIRDIE at Lancaster Opera House

Andrew  holds a position on Saint Mary’s First Honor Role, is the Student Body President, and an integral member of the school soccer team.  He is President of his CYO, and has been installed into the Lancaster Youth Bureau 2008 Hall of Fame for Outstanding Service to the Community.

Aurora Players is honored to award the 2009 Aurora Players scholarship to Andrew Adolf.  We wish him well.
